Stephan Murphy, MPA. CPT, US Army Reserve

Stephan joined the team at The Catholic University of America during the 2020-2021 academic year and serves as the Director of Military and Veteran Student Services. In this position, Stephan serves as the main staff liaison for Catholic’s three ROTC detachments as well as the main student services point of contact for veterans, active duty and reserve military students, military spouses and children. Additionally, Stephan serves as the main admission liaison for both military-affiliated undergraduate and graduate students.

Stephan graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2013. He served as an active-duty Army Field Artillery Officer until 2019, including two deployments to Afghanistan. Since 2019, Stephan has continued to serve in the Army Select Reserve. Combining work at Catholic University of America and Army assignments, Stephan has over three years of ROTC Admissions experience. Stephan also serves as an Adjunct Instructor in the Hoya Battalion & Air Force ROTC Detachment 130 as well as a Career Advisor for all Catholic University Cadets and Midshipmen.

Stephan comes to the Catholic University of America from Syracuse University. At Syracuse, Stephan completed his Master’s in Public Administration and served as the graduate assistant to the director of graduate admissions and financial aid at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs where he served as the lead coordinator for Veteran Recruitment. Stephan also served as an academic support specialist in the Syracuse University Athletic Department where he mentored five Orange athletes to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
